Why is ICF Credentialing Important to Coaching?
Working with an ICF-certified coach is very important. Coaching is not a regulated industry at this time, which means that anybody can call himself or herself a “coach” regardless of training, skill, or experience. ICF-certified coaches are highly trained because:

-
ICF is the only global organization for coaches and coach training, and has helped develop best practices for the coaching industry
-
All ICF-certified coaches have undergone rigorous training and many hours of supervised coaching
-
All ICF-certified coaches are held to a strict Code of Ethics
According to the 2010 ICF Global Consumer Awareness Study, clients who worked with an ICF Credentialed Coach were more likely to be satisfied with their coaching experience and recommend coaching to others. In the 2010 ICF Global Consumer Awareness Study, 84 percent of adult consumers who had experienced a coaching relationship reported that it was important for coaches to hold a credential.
